When did you own your first camera? How did it make you feel? My first camera was this cheap 110 film format camera, which to my recollection, was something I scrimped and saved for. I snapped everything. And back then it wasn't cheap. As a kid, my shots were limited by how much allowence I had saved prior to the family vacation. Those limitations have fallen away, but the same passion is there, even more so now.

I feel the single most obvious indicator, whether you've 'got potential', is the existance of raw desire. The art takes practice, and without desire, you simply will not spend the time necessary to learn and improve your art. I take a minimum of 2 shots of my subject, even if I use the same settings. I do this just in case the camera shook ever so slightly. I have a 100% better chance of getting the perfect shot with that one practice.

If you put that little bit of effort into every photograph, then you might be one of us. We must be crazy to go after an art such as this, knowing that 60% of the civilized world has a camera in their pocket. It is very challenging to set yourself apart from the pack.

Do you have what it takes?
